Trevor is an Associate Professor in the London Centre for Leadership in Learning, UCL Institute of Education where he is Director of Academic Studies and also Programme Leader for the MBA in Educational Leadership (International).
He has now worked in education for over 46 years, has Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with the Department for Education and is also a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA) in England. He has previously worked full-time for three universities: Senior Lecturer at Brunel University (1993-1998), Principal Lecturer at University of Lincoln (1998-2002) and Senior Lecturer in Education at the University of Hull (2002-14). In previous careers he has been an officer in the Education Department of London Borough of Harrow (1986-1993) and a qualified schoolteacher (1973-86). In all employment he has held senior leadership positions.
He continues to be an active researcher and is engaged in several live projects, with many academic articles, conference papers and book chapters having been published recently. His main area of expertise is in the field of education, and in educational leadership in particular, where he has three books: ‘Being an Effective Headteacher’, ‘Doing Research in Education: Theory and Practice’ and ‘Sustaining the Comprehensive Ideal’. His main current research interests are Pedagogical Leadership and Leadership in Multi-Academy Trusts (MATs).
